Friday, April 20, 2018

UFC heavyweights Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis are scheduled to fight at UFC 226: Miocic vs. Cormier on July 7, 2018, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ngannou had been on a ten-fight win streak and the verge of becoming The Next Big Thing heading into a fight vs. Stipe Miocic at UFC 220. However, Miocic survived some huge shots and earned a unanimous decision with Ngannou barely hanging on for the full five rounds.

Lewis won six in a row before being stopped by Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 110 in June. He rebounded with a TKO win over Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night 126. ‘The Black Beast’ has won performance bonuses in all three of his last fights. Ngannou has won performance bonuses in two of his last four fights.

The winner could well be in line for a shot at the winner of the Miocic vs. Cormier main event.

Other fights on the card to date include:
Stipe Miocic (c) vs. Daniel Cormier
Raphael Assuncao vs. Rob Font
Gokhan Saki vs. Khalil Rountree Jr.
Yancy Medeiros vs. Mike Perry
