Furious Spider says give me interim title shot in Brazil or I’m done
Anderson Silva: “I respect my fans. I’m sorry guys. I love the sport. I love fighting. Fighting is my life. But it’s too much bulls***.”

The greatest fighter in UFC history, Anderson Silva, appeared recently on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour, and offered an ultimatum. The UFC has to book him in a fight with Yoel Romero for the interim belt at UFC 212 on June 3 in Brazil, or he will retire. Silva has been scheduled to fight Kelvin Gastelum at the event, but a positive test for the demon weed marijuana scuttled the fight.
Current middleweight champion Michael Bisping has agreed to fight welterweight G.O.A.T. Georges St-Pierre, but not date has been set. Bisping hasn’t fought since October, which could make it close to a year between title fights, depending upon when the GSP fight happens. By comparison, when Silva was champion, he fought three times in 2007 and 2008, and two times in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
The guys no give this fight for me for the interim belt, I’m done, said Silva as transcribed by Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting. I’ll go be with my family. I’m done.
I say, ‘OK, I go fight Yoel Romero.’ Because I know I respect Yoel Romero, he’s a great fighter. He’s No. 1 in the ranks. But one thing — why Yoel Romero come to Brazil for fight me for nothing?
I stayed here for a long time for training. This is not my fault for Gastelum to go out of the fight. This is not my problem. My problem is training hard for fight in Brazil for my fans. What happens to my fans now? What happens to the people who paid to see my fight in Brazil. This is the second time this happened. I’m tired of this.
This is perfect bulls***. I’m tired. I’m so tired. I’m respectful long time. Everything, I never talk about bad situations in UFC. … I think I’m done. I fight for long time in my life. And I’m tired, bro. I’m so upset. I have my legacy, I have my story. It’s very frustrating, because this is the second time I’m not fighting in my country.
I’m far too old and I’m done, bro. I’m sorry. I know I need to respect my fans — I respect my fans. I’m sorry guys. I love the sport. I love fighting. Fighting is my life. But it’s too much bulls***.
Romero called into the show and concurred.
I fight only with Anderson for the interim belt, said Romero. If not for him, I wait for my time for the belt.
