UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is on a 12-fight win streak, and will next defend his belt vs. Brian Ortega. ‘Blessed’ has won two performance bonuses in his last three fights. ‘T City’ has never lost in his 15 fights, and is coming off a streak of six submissions; he’s won four performance bonuses in the last three fights.

It’s one of the best fights of the year. Holloway appeared recently on Brendan Schaub’s Below the Belt and expressed his joy at the coming scrap.

“I’m excited about this fight,” said Holloway, as transcribed by Adam Guillen Jr. for MMA Mania. “More people are talking about this fight than when I was matched up with Frankie. Finally I’m fighting a guy that they’ve watched grow up. This is a new era, new faces and a fresh matchup.

Something that isn’t lost on Holloway.

“I’m so excited for the challenge, I am looking forward to this one. I can’t wait to do the damn thing. He is dangerous, he is dangerous everywhere. He has always proven to be dangerous as a grappler, but his striking has been coming along that last couple of fights. Like I say, when I see danger, I want to walk right into the middle of the fire and I want to test it. Whenever that date is, we are going to find out.”

“I am the danger!”

The fight has not been made, but there are indications it may be held at UFC 226 on July 7 at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier challenges heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic in the main event of that one.
