The main event of UFC Fight Night 128 in Atlantic City, New Jersey featured a lightweight bout between top ranked contenders Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza. Lee, a dominant wrestler, was able to use his skill set to force the action to the ground early and dominate the dangerous striker. Barboza offered little resistance on the ground to the non-stop assault of Lee who landed hard shots almost at will through the first two rounds.

But Barboza hung tough and changed the tide for a moment in the third round landing a spinning wheel kick that rocked Lee and left him wobbly. Lee was able to recover and clear his head after a takedown, but was visibly slowed down as the two began to exchange less meaningful punches through the rest of the third round.

The fourth round looked like the fight would turn into a brawl, but Lee quickly got the fight back to the ground after a few dangerous exchanges. Lee would stay active on the ground landing enough to keep the fight on the mat the rest of the fourth round.

Barboza was definitely down on the score cards coming into the fifth round, but stayed in the fight trying to land some big shots but the wear and tear really started to show. After a failed takedown attempt, the referee stepped in and halted the action to have a Barboza cut checked by the doctor who called a stop to the fight.

Official Result: Kevin Lee defeated Edson Barboza by TKO (Doctor Stoppage, Round 5, 2:18)
