McGregor has words with Nurmagomedov backstage

UFC featherweight champion was either brilliant or nuts backstage at UFC 205, or both. Like a rooster in heat, he appeared intent on scrapping with everyone who locked eyes with him. There was UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who he called a “B****” on his social network and to his face. And ‘Notorious’ got into it with top lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov as well.

Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdel-Aziz spoke with Damon Martin for FOX Sports after the incident, who reported that it began when the Russian and Irishman locked eyes.

“I will smash your face,” the manager reports Nurmagomedov said to McGregor. Security intervened and Nurmagomedov and his team departed.

McGregor’s behavior is smart if you consider what Conor McGregor does after Saturday night. If he loses, the next fight is a unification bout with Interim champion Jose Aldo.

However, if McGregor wins, and becomes the first UFC fighter to ever hold two belts at once, the first thing he will have to do is give one up. Given the struggles he has had making 145, it is widely believed that he will keep the lightweight belt.

If he does that, his first title defense would likely be vs. Nurmagomedov, assuming the Russian gets by Michael Johnson, as he is expected to. But McGregor has three title aspirations as well, which could explain the beef with Woodley.

Or maybe Conor McGregor is just nuts.
