There are multiple reports that UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will defend his title against Francis Ngannou at UFC 220 on January 20 at TD Garden in Boston.

Ngannou is on a ten-fight win streak, the last six in the UFC. And as the level of competition has risen, The Predator’s skills have increased even more. Ngannou’s first two UFC fights ended in the second round. The last four haven’t made it past the second minute, and were capped with the greatest KO in UFC heavyweight history. The loser, former #1 contender Alistair Overeem, rightly called it The Uppercut from Hell.

The champ is himself on a five-fight win streak in the UFC, all finishes, the last four in the first round. To date, no UFC heavyweight has ever successfully defended the title more than twice. Miocic has defended the belt twice.

If the bout becomes official, it will be the second title fight on the card –  UFC light heavyweight Daniel Cormier will be fighting Volkan Oezdemir. It is not known which will be the co-main. However, the UFC needs the next big thing, and Ngannou gives every appearance of being just that. So expect the heavyweight to headline.
