Mousasi calls out ‘Chicken Rory’
Gegard Mousasi crushed Rafael Carvalho on Friday night in London, taking his Bellator MMA world middleweight championship. Then he used the moments immediately after very wisely, telling the world what he wants next.
The #1 middleweight contender is UFC vet John Salter, 33, who is on a tear in Bellator, going 5-0, all inside the distance, and four via chokes.
What Mousasi really, really wants is a superfight vs. Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald.
“I’m going to call him ‘Chicken Rory’. That’s the fight we want,” said Mousasi to Mike Bohn and Abbey Subhan for MMAjunkie. “I do respect him a lot – he’s a tough fighter. But I think we’re going to push for that fight. We’re going to call him names until he takes the fight.”
“I like Rory. I think he’s a phenomenal fighter. I think it’s a good matchup for me and a big name. I think fight fans want to see that fight.”
Yes, we do.
“This belt will open some doors for me,” said Mousasi. “It’s all about opportunities.
Bellator President Scott Coker said MacDonald blew up his phone saying yes. And then there’s what really matters p ‘The Red King’ accepted on his social network.
