Nogueira misses weight, Coenen fight cancelled for Bellator 163

2011 world Jiu-Jitsu champion and undefeated (6-0) featherweight Talita ‘Treta’ Nogueira was reportedly over six pounds above weight on Thursday morning’s weigh-ins for Bellator 163. She never even bothered to officially weigh in. As a result of her unprofessionalism, the fight with Marloes Coenen was scrapped, robbing the WMMA pioneer, and all the fans, of the fight.

Coenen made weight successfully and will be paid her show money, and gamely headed for a buffet. Nogueira goes to bed without any supper.

This was the second fight in a row where Coenen’s opponent failed to meet the contracted weight. At Bellator 155 Alexis Dufresne missed weight by over four pounds, but the fight went ahead anyway, and Coenen was submitted at 4:33 of the first. This time apparently, Coenen had had enough.

Bellator 163 takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut and is broadcast on Spike. Promotion light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary faces Phil Davis in the main event.
