The return of the most famous fighter in mixed martial arts history is now official. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will return to the Octagon vs. champion Amanda Nunez at UFC 207 on December 30, 2016, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The announcement came via UFC President Dana White on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FOX Sports 1.

Rousey was the first UFC women’s bantamweight champion, and then defended her title like no one in the sport’s history. The belt was bestowed upon her and she defended it twice before hitting an extraordinary groove. Rousey beat Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann in 1:06; that’s incredible. Then Rousey beat Alexis Davis, Cat Zingano, and Bethe Correia in a combined 1:04; that will never happen again.
Rousey appeared to be unbeatable until November 15, 2015, when she lost to Holly Holm. The belt thereafter went from untakable to unholdable. After Rousey lost her title to Holm, Holm lost her title to Miesha Tate, who lost her title to Amanda Nunes, all in the space of eight months.
Nunes is on a four-fight win streak, since losing to Cat Zingano at UFC 178 in September of 2014. ‘The Lioness’ stopped Shayna Baszler with a low kick, tapped Sara McMann with a rear naked choke, decisioned Valentina Shevchenko, and then took the title from Miesha Tate via rear naked at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016.
Nunes had been holding out for a fight with Rousey and got it.
The UFC 207 card is far from finalized but it is historically one of the best of the year, so expect an excellent main card and undercard.
