Thiago Alves withdraws from co-main event Saturday

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

UFC welterweight Thiago Alves has withdrawn from a fight with Mike Perry in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 116 on Saturday night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. No reason was given for the late withdrawal.

The news was first reported by John Morgan for MMAjunkie, and has since been confirmed by multiple sources.

UFC newcomer Alex Reyes is stepping up on three days notice. The California-based fighter holds a 13-2 record, with both losses coming in his first two fights. Most of his fights have been at lightweight, but he will be stepping up to welterweight for the fight Saturday night.

Perry Perry is coming off a Performance of the Night winning knockout over Jake Ellenberger at UFC Fight Night 108 on March 18, 2017, in Nashville, Tennessee.
