UFC to sponsor Outsports group at LGBTQ Pride March in New York

Saturday, June 23, 2018

The UFC is a hyper-macho organization in a hyper-macho sport, but has done an admirable job with WMMA, and an admirable job with support for the LGBTQ community. Unlike most professional sports, female fighters compete under the same rules as men. Further, women in the league received the same contracts as men. For a time, the highest paid athlete in the sport was a woman (Ronda Rousey). There is no equivalent in the rest of sports.

The massive 2018 NYC Pride March will be held at 12:00 PM – 9:30 PM on
Sunday, June 24, in Greenwich village, and the UFC will be sponsoring SBNation’s Outsports.com contingent.

Marchers will include UFC strawweight Tecia Torres, UFC strawweight Nina Ansaroff, and UFC flyweight Sijara Eubanks. Each fighter is proudly LGBTQ. Torres is engaged to UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Raquel Pennington. Ansaroff’s partner is UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. And Eubanks is raising a child with her female partner.
