UFC president Dana White recapped UFC 220 with league correspondent Megan Olivi, and said the main and co-main would be a fun fight.

“Yeah, he doesn’t like to jump up to heavyweight because of his relationship with Cain Velasquez, but he can go up and fight if Cain comes back he can walk away from the belt if that’s what he chose to do or whatever,” said White, as transcribed by Adam Guillen Jr. for MMA Mania. “But I think Stipe and Daniel is a fun fight.”

Cormier was asked about it, at the post-fight press conference, and didn’t say no.

“People have talked about that fight for a really long time,” began DC. “I fought 13 fights at heavyweight and I hate cutting weight. as you guys all know. I haven’t really thought about it.

“It’s hard for me now because Cain’s in the gym a lot more. Cain’s in the gym now getting prepared to do what he does best. I draw so much from him. Cain had a baby about a month ago and he’s here with me now. If he’s getting prepared to get the belt back, then I have nothing for that division and that will never change.”
