UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California is shaping up to be an extraordinary card, with three title fights. Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will defend his title against Jon Jones. Cristiane Justino and Tonya Evinger will fight for the vacant women’s featherweight belt. And during an appearance on UFC Tonight on FS1 UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley announced he would fight Demian Maia.

This will be the third title defense for The Chosen One. After defeating Robbie Lawler via Round 1 KO at UFC 201 in July of 2016, Woodley twice defended successfully vs. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, once via a majority draw and once via a majority decision.

Maia is on a seven-fight win streak, most recently defeating Jorge Masvidal via Split Decision at UFC 211 in May. This will be Maia’s second title shot. He lost a decision to middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 112 in April of 2010.

In further exciting news, UFC president Dana White reports that the winner will get a shot at division G.O.A.T. Georges St-Pierre.

“Georges and I talked a couple days ago when he was in Vegas,” said White said in an exclusive interview with MMAjunkie‘s Mike Bohn and John Morgan at UFC headquarters. “Georges is saying he wants to fight; we’ll get this thing figured out. We’re talking about Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia. These two are going to fight soon. That will free up the 170-pound champion for Georges St-Pierre to return and try to regain his belt.”

White did not say when GSP would return, but the planned UFC event at Madison Square Garden in November would be an obvious great choice.
