I'm the wrong person to ask because I've never had a dog. Only cats. They seem jumpy (energetic) but that's about it. Better than some fat, lazy dog, imo.

Minpins are pretty high energy dogs, but not to the point that its ever annoyed me. They are extremely smart and can be very stubborn. Training and exercise is a must, otherwise they can become pretty destructive especially as puppies. House breaking the males can be a real bitch. I don't think I've ever had a more loyal dog than my minpin, and he's very protective over our house and our family. Sometimes actually a little too protective as he's actually gone after a couple of people that came to our house. Overall though he's been an awesome dog and I wouldn't hesitate to get another one.
