I never heard of Miracleman before, but kept hearing this issue had one of the greatest fights ever. And it does.

I think this was the first comic to really show how much carnage super powered beings can cause. No wonder batman is always so paranoid..

I remember getting quite a shock picking this up in the graphic novel section of the library as a little kid and seeing this plus Miracleman delivering a baby.

I'm confused when anyone who reads comics has never heard of Miracleman, since everything after it ripped it off, hard.

I don't understand either, you are essentially shrugging your shoulders at what the last 20 years of comics is made of.

I know the art is dated, but get past that and you are knee deep in some killer storytelling. That whole series was just a quantum leap in comics.

Alan Moore really made the most of the ideas he ripped out of Superfolks.

I don't mean that sarcastically, either. Moore's imagination was really fired by that book, and his best superhero work is the stuff that it inspired.

For me, Moore is noy a great idea man or original creator, he does his best work when someone else has set up the barriers and rules for him to work within and stretch and on occasion, break.

If you could combine the strengths of Moore, with grant Morrison, who I feel is a great idea man capable making novel set ups but often doesn't execute them well, you'd have a near perfect superhero writer. The combo would also give you Morrison's more fully rounded, human characters, his broader spectrum of emotion than Moore, who tends to write characters that only serve the plot or that he can speak through.
