There is an old saying, I've heard it a few different ways.

"Do not fear the man that has practiced 1,000 techniques. Fear the man that has mastered 5-techniques."

Carmouche practiced for months specifically to defend the arm-bar.

Ronda does not just apply an arm-bar, she masterfully steers her opponents, leads and directs them into an arm-bar. It is not an accident that they end up in a compromised position. It is by design, the design of a master.

That is the interesting part.. It is not that Ronda finishes every fight with an armbar, but it is that she always finds a way to put them in that position. She knows how to get there from so many different ways, it is not that you are just defending one position. You have to defend MANY positions that all have the same potential outcome. That is the impressive part.

I must say that although Tate is a bit of a hater, look at how much she took before tapping out. You pretty much either have to knock her out or practically pull off a limb before she will give up. She is one tough woman to say the least.

if your win every fight with a technique why do you need to change it? And it's all the other skill that sets it up.

Tate is still upset that she is no longer the face of WMMA. The way she talks, it's as if this never happened:

A lot of people are saying she is a "one Trick" pony but if every person she fight gives her the armbar then why not take that arm..... I am sure she would like to win in a different fashion but as long as these chic's keep giving it up she is going to take it....

Most fights I have seen her in, she was winning the standup before the armbar. So if she is a 1 trick pony that makes everyone else a no trick pony

UGCTT_VA757_GJTT - Story was twisted just like a UG Blog thread, Cat said Ronda has more than just one skill. Phone Post

This. You guys have it all kinds of twisted. If I remember correctly, Ariel asked if her winning the way she did tonight makes her a one trick pony, and Cat kind of hesitated and said by definition yes, but I'm sure she has more of an arsenal that we haven't seen. And then says something to the effect of she might not be able to do that one trick to everyone, which although by definition she has so far, let's be honest -- statistics say that won't last. If it does, though, then Ronda Rousey is one bad, bad chick... (which she is anyways, lol!)

Trying to survive? She was in trouble one time in her career and that was when she was in the neck crank last weekend. If anything that makes her even more unbeatable because nobody knew how she would deal with adversity or pain, she passed the test with flying colors

Tate was never the face of WMMA . She just has a nice A$$ and guys like to look at it. And she was cool for sometime then she went to team Alpha male and her ego got to big for her and she became a cry baby about everything !
But the face of WMMA she never was and never will be

This.

Overcoming adversity shows what champions are really about. Even with Bones, he could have tapped to Vitor but fought through it and won. Phone Post

Old Thrashbarg - Agree with cat. You know who else is a one trick pony? That Anderson Silva guy. All he does is win. That one "winning" trick over and over. Damn these one trick ponys.

And no, not comparing Honda to the spider. Phone Post

yes you are. also, anderson uses a variety of tricks to win

Carlos ConDOit - Why would she show her other tricks in a fight if they are not needed? Noone can stop the one trick shes been using. When someone finally does stop they wont be prepared for whatever she pulls out next.

War Ronda!!!!! Phone Post

the one time someone (meisha) did stop her one trick, the next trick she pulled out was the same trick.

Doc T -

She said She's a one trick pony by definition. Which by DEFINITION she is. All of her fights have ended by armbar in the first. Cat wasn't saying that's all ronda has, it's just all she has shown so far.

so far she is a one trick finisher, but uses a variety of tricks to get to the finish

Jumbo Reverse Shrimp - I agree, a lot of holes can be filled.

"After watching that, Meisha, are the juices flowing? Are you anxious? You must have been watching that dreaming of being in that position."

So much dirtiness in this interview.

pretty sure he had one hand in his pocket...
