How is Newton ranked over Vegh at LHW?

Not only is Vegh the Bellator champion, he beat Newton in the 2012 LHW tournament.

Agreed.

Brazil is CLEARLY under represented and so are the smaller non-televised North American promotions.

How is Karakhanyan ranked above Patricio, a guy who KO'd him? And yea these lists are really missing Brazilian fighters. Where is Kyoji Horiguchi at Bantamweight? The Flyweight list seems extremely biased towards the Japanese in particular. Josh Sampo isn't even ranked?

Cool idea but these lists need a lot of work. Phone Post

GLOBAL-MMA Ranking Rules

*This ranking system includes fighters that are not under exclusive contract to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

*Top level fighters that leave the UFC may be ranked in subsequent rankings.

*Fighters that sign exclusively to the UFC will be removed from the rankings.

*Rankings are based on a fighter's overall career results and recent performance.

*A fighter will be ranked number one if he defeats the number one ranked fighter in the weight division except under certain rare circumstances where the number two ranked fighter clearly deserves to move into the number one ranking position.

*Victories over highly ranked fighters and losses against non-ranked opponents have a larger effect on the fighters ranking position.

*A fighter will not necessarily take the place of his opponent in the rankings after a victory or a loss.

* A fighter can move up a maximum of two spots with impressive victories over a fighter ranked below him; however, there is no limit if the fighter earned a title with the victory.

* An unranked newly crowned champion who earned a title in a major league MMA promotion can enter the top ten even with a victory over an unranked fighter.

*A fighter will drop in the rankings if he does not fight regularly against high level competition.

*A top ten ranked fighter can become ranked in another weight division after one or more wins in his new weight class.

*A fighter can be ranked in two different weight divisions.

*Champions and fighters from prominent promotions will have an advantage over champions and fighters from promotions with lesser competition.

*A fighter will be removed from the rankings if he does not fight for two years.

*Fighters that are signed to multiple promotions will have their promotions listed based on the following criteria: 1) championship held in a promotion, 2) predominant promotion the fighter fights in, 3) promotion
last fought in.

*Rankings will be updated every month.

One last comment, LOL at the Janitor being ranked 10th at LHW behind guys like Blachowicz, Nakanishi, M'Pumbu, and Rumble. None of those guys have resumes that even approach what Vladdy has done in his career. Rumble in particular is laughable since he is only 1-1 in the weight class.

IMO, head-to-head results matter more than beating some theoretical #1. Just because you had Mo and Takaya ranked #1 doesn't mean they were really the best guys out there. I think it is ridiculous to weigh performance against a perceived #1 heavier than actual head-to-head results.

That is how you wind up with wacky shit like Travis Wiuff as the #5 LHW in the world. I love me some Diesel, but he is a journeyman fighter who regularly loses to any time he faces world class competition. If it weren't for his win over one of the worst champions in the history of televised MMA (M'Pumbu), I doubt he would even be mentioned at all.

You mean circumstances like, oh I don't know, the other fighter already beat him head-to-head?

LOL

That explains Nakanishi.

Do you really believe the DEEP LHW title means something? DEEP has had some awesome fights over the years and produced some great fighters, but their talent level for guys over 200 pounds is hot garbage. The lighter DEEP titles absolutely mean something, but HW and LHW not so much. Which makes me wonder why you have one of the weakest champions in DEEP ranked but legit studs like Daisuke Nakamura and Yoshiro Maeda get no mention?

Fitch needs to prove it, he lost 2 out of his last 3 fights. Let´s see how he does in WSOF.

Good call. It would be great if you could make a list of fighters who you feel definietly deserves to be in the top 10.
