The debate has been raging for years over fighter pay. Most recently fighter John Cholish blasted the ufc in his retirement speech saying it didn't pay enough for him to stick around.

So lets hear some suggestions. Obviously you can't put a gobal minimum as high as the UFC's 4k to show 4k to win because every small org would fold. New fighters would have to stay amatuer for ages to eventually be good enough to be worth 4k. What's a fair minimum for televised fights, and what's a fair minimum for non-televised fights?

I've heard the number 10k thrown around for televised fights. But is that really enough to be able to live off of without having to do do anything else? An average fighter only fights like 2-3 times a year. After taxes you're looking at the poverty line. Although if we raise it to say 15k, all of a sudden new fighters will be finding it harder to make it in to the big shows like Bellator and the UFC, and will be forced at the lower tier pay scale or even fighting for beans in the amateurs.

Speaking of the lower tiers, what should the minimum pay be there? Should they be forced to pay fighters enough not to work? That doesn't seem very sustainable given they don't have tv deals backing them. I think a 10k minimum would sink them, and even then that's not a livable wage. Is there even a fair number there where fighters aren't getting exploited while the orgs can stay afloat?

10k/10k

Every major sport has a minimum salary. UFC has a perception to some of underpaying guys because they want to be so fucking secretive. 10K is fair for what these guys are risking and sacrificing. Phone Post 3.0

10/10

Love it when undercard fighters get a OTN bonus too!
A friend of mine won FOTN on his UFC debut and it was a huge deal!

It's the premier league of combat. If the fighters aren't worth 10/10 they shouldn't be there imo Phone Post 3.0

It should be the exact amount that both the fighter and the promotion agree to and you scumbags shouldn't interfere in other peoples business.

10/10 sounds acceptable for a fighter in the UFC, maybe even 15/15 depending on your age, how many fights you've had, how marketable you are etc. You have to look at how much money your gunna generate for that one event to give a proper estimate. I think the 50k bonuses are crazy good. If you get a bonus of 50k your looking at a slick earned years salary for sure. But not everyone gets the bonuses Phone Post 3.0

Given the level of expenses a pro fighter of that caliber incurs, preparing for the fight, I think even 10/10 is somewhat low.

The amount of time and effort to get the UFC is less than it takes to be a decent amateur in most sports. Guys are regularly in the UFC after 3 years and less than 10 fights.

Meanwhile the average salary for a minor league baseball player, who typically has more than 10 years of experience and thousands of games under his belt is less than $20k per year. Undercard boxer - $100 a round.

First you say that it's nobody business and people shouldn't interfere.  Then a few posts later you are arguing for low pay.

Main Event - A minimum of $2 Million + 2-5% of PPV Buys

Co-Main Event - A minimum of $650K + 1-2% of PPV Buys

Co-Main and Main Event on TV Only - A minimum of $250K + .05% of Commercial Revenue

I don't really have an opinion beyond that.

The UFC is supposed to be the big leagues.  But there are fighters at local shows, guys who can sell a lot of tickets, that get paid more than the UFC would pay them.  Doesn't sound very big leagues to me.

10k/10k is the bare minimum to look yourself in the mirror.

15/15 is more reasonable.

Whether you put a single ass in a single seat in your debut, you are putting your life and well being on the line for what is billed as the premier organization in the world for what you do.

I say 25K is the very least someone in the UFC should make in a fight. To properly prepare for a fight and get a good camp together will cost at least 10k

It should be like any other job. At least minimum wage a year. Regardless of the number of fights you have. Like a retainer. Then performance/win bonuses. Phone Post 3.0
