We have a chance at knees to the head, but that's it. Soccer kicks will never fly in north America.

MMA Lives Here -  The UFC would be up shit creek if soccer kicks were legal. Knees to the head on the ground too, just to a lesser extent.

If you'd like them to be brought back then that's your opinion, just keep in mind you're campaigning for something that would fuck the sport up the ass Phone Post

Thanks for the feedback (though I disagree) but I just love how people keep talking about the "impact on the mainstream status of the sport".

That's completely NOT what I am talking about. You all sound so brainwashed. This is about how the Unified Rules aren't mma. They are Wrestle-Box rules.

All these "soccer kicks wouldn't fly in NA" is nothing but the bullshit mantra created by a bunch of lame-ass government bureaucrats and now taken up by a former lame-ass government bureaucrat because he doesn't want to go back on what he originally said (when Zuffa was trying to keep PRIDE out of the US).

No, soccer kicks literally wouldn't fly in the mainstream. Anywhere.

If you can't step back and see how cowardly/brutal/barbaric soccer kicks would look to the average joe, we can't help you. Kicking someone's head in when their down doesn't send a tolerable message.

And knees to the head of a grounded opponent? That's just too much force. Ground and pound's already the part of MMA that makes people cringe and whinge. And you think wrestling's dominant now? Add knees Phone Post

We could easily grab a number of techniques in MMA (let alone the WHOLE of women's MMA) and say the same thing. It is a matter of perception and PR.

If the powers that be said it was a-okay and talked about how technical and difficult it was and how essential it was to the sport people would eventually accept and MANY would be 100% with it.

Just think of the DISGUSTING things that have become completely acceptable to the "mainstream" in the past 10 years just because the media said it was ok (think Kardashians and all the hookers "leaking" porn tapes and how that usually HELPS their careers....)

Haulport had hit the nail on the head. This rule alone would get me excited for mma again.

This mutated, wrestle fuck, win a round, position over submission crap we have now is not what I started watching this sport for.

I continue to watch, mostly only older fighters I know. After they're gone, I might as well be too. Watching this crap is too depressing.

The whole point use to be to kick your opponents ass. If it hit the time limit, you'd judge who kicked who's ass the most. Phone Post 3.0

Excellent gifs Nego!

I'm surprised Ron Waterman isn't dead and that Rampage was able to continue his career after such UNBELIEVABLY BRUTAL techniques were used on them!

Leave it to you my fren to say something that is not only COMPLETELY illogical and WRONG but is comprised of 100% opinion yet stated as fact..........!

no ur thread title should say its not a fight without soccer kicks.MMA has strict rules like most sports. And in MMA soccer kicks are not part of the rules.I agree I enjoy soccer kicks but MMA is not Vale Tudo or anything goes

I guess ONE FC isn't an MMA event according to you since soccer kicks are part of their rules...........?

UFC is the big show and blows ONE FC out of the water. It is UFC at one level then there are the other shows which do not come close to to comparing/Haulport always wants to be entertained but soccerkicks are gutless and not legal for good reason in the UFC.MMA is not a street fight sorry

Dude, shut up about the soccer kicks. Work on getting knees on the ground legal, then work on soccer kicks to your hearts content. I want soccer kicks as much as the next man, but I understand it's never going to happen. Knee's on the ground has an actual chance of being legalised.

The problem is every time someone starts a debate about getting knees legalised, someone jumps in and is like "yeah!! And soccer kicks too!!". The knees get thrown in with the soccer kicks and the whole debate goes to shit. If people would just stfu about the soccer kicks we might actually have knees on the ground by now. Get the knees first, then work on soccer kicks.

We're cool OP but you go over the top all the time.

I'm an old time MMA guy. My favorite rules are UFC 1's period (and it's no time limit/no stand up's).

When I say "Soccer kicks will never fly in north America" it's because of the history of the sport & the US Government. Frankly it would be insane to attempt any such rule change as a move to ban the sport from government would certainly follow. You can disagree of course but I feel sure the UFC brass views this data the same as I do. Hope you are correct though.

My fren I have spoken EXTENSIVELY with some of the biggest Commissioners, Judges and Refs in MMA and I can assure you that NOTHING will change except perhaps that things will be TAKEN AWAY. As long as the Commissions are in charge you will NEVER see a knee to the head on the ground or an up-kick from one grounded opponent to another grounded opponent.

And the "argument" has nothing to do with it................

You could have the best argument in the world, you could have scientific proof on your side (I offered to PAY for a scientist from The University of Michigan to do a study to prove/disprove the danger of knees/soccer kicks/stomps and Keith Kizer made fun of the idea) and NONE of it would matter.........

Let me help you my fren: your BELIEF that soccer kicks are "gutless" as you say is your OPINION. You have no PROOF that they are "gutless". Opinion is not FACT and shold not be stated as such.

Also, please enumerate the "good reasons" that they are illegal and all the scientific studies you have read off of Google that PROVE they should be illegal.

Meanwhile, I will sit and enjoy my gif from the OP and the others on this thread and wonder to myself if it is gutless to touch your finger to the ground so someone can't knee you in the head or run around on all fours like a dog looking to leg pick someone in an mma contest where your opponent isn't allowed to knee you in the face or kick you while you are trying and is forced to run away from you.

Or if it's just some weird, boring sport with rules that were created by completely ignorant bureaucrats who DISPISED the idea of the sport....................

I'm all for it but its never gonna happen. The image of an unconscious person getting kneed and kicked in the head on the ground is too much for mainstream North America. Phone Post 3.0
