Do you think  Big Nog is the most accomplished bjj practioner to be submitted in mma?

I know a few years back in a smaller promotion a bjj guy got submitted by a guy whom didn't have nearly the bjj credentials as the guy he submitted. Can't remember the names involved though.

Am I forgetting someone who has been submitted besides Nog?

Sak armbarring Conan, catching Royler and then breaking Renzos arm would have to make the list.

worthy mention, but Frank Mir was rocked, and still grappled his way to a sub victory.

Almeida was rocked, and got grappled to a loss.

Jesus, what a brain fart I had for not even thinking of the whole Sakuraba/Gracie rivalry.

Royler being submitted might take the #1 spot.

Made me so sad when Nog got KO'd and the subbed by Mir. In the other hand I am now a massive Frank Mir fan and he deserves to go down as an all-time great along with Minotauro. Phone Post 3.0

Well said.

I don't know if I'd say it made me a "massive" Frank Mir fan, but I was already a fan of Mir, and appreciated him on another level after those fights. Still more of a fan of Big Nog, but I like how you worded that.

Roan Carneiro got triangled by Kevin Burns.

He's actually lost by sub a couple of times I think.

This is the correct answer. A virtual unknown pro-wrestler to the majority of fighting fans comes out of nowhere and submits a bunch of Gracies and Carlos Newton who was a very good and accomplished grappler too.

Technically, Royler and Renzo didn't tap...  :)

I know it's not BJJ, but Leben hitting the triangle on the decorated Judoka Sexyama was a pretty unbelievable ending.

Also Nog was older when he got subbed by Frank and Werdum. I doubt the Pride verison of Nog gets subbed by either guy.

pettis (blue belt at the time) armbar'd bendo for the belt. obviously bendo isnt of the absolute highest caliber bjj practitioner but i believe it to be a worthy mention and likely the most recent and influential moments Phone Post 3.0

I want to make a poll now with some of these options.

I think it comes down to Nog, Royler/Renzo.

Also Horwich over Thales Leites was a good mention.

I'd probably go with Roan Carneiro being triangled by Kevin Burns. It's not like Roan was even getting punched.
