Tilla - What striker on Igor's level did Chuck beat in his prime?

Even RANDY outstruck him whilst Chuck was in HIS prime!

He went life and death with a washed up Wand, got pole-axed by Rich Franklin (and Chuck was in MEAN shape for that fight, and was winning it), got schooled and KO'd by Rampage...

Fact is, is that Chuck never beat ANYONE thoroughly on Igor's level when it came to striking.
LOL

Overeem, Vitor, Wand...

This myth that chuck couldn't match it with strikers is ridiculous. Phone Post 3.0

all three of those guy's chin's couldn't hold a candle to Igor's beard.

The dude was unko'able until Cro cop hit him with his left louisville slugger.

Would have been a great fight. Chuck was not very technical and Igor would also resort to brawling at times. If Chuck used his reach wisely I can see him win. But he wasn't as great of a pure striker as some people think. He had a tough chin, knockout power, and good takedown defense. He got hit way too much though. Vernon White lost the fight to Chuck ultimately because he lacked punching power and Chuck hits hard. But Vernon was winning some of those exchanges. If Vernon rocked him, Igor could do worse.

In a brawl I would pick Igor. If it's a more disciplined fight, I give the edge to Chuck.

Good point about Tiger White. He was putting it on Chuck.

I think Chucks wrestling is where the fight is most uneven. He could brawl and take Igor down if it got to be too much. Phone Post 3.0

I don't see Chuck's counter striking back pedaling style working against Igor.

Chuck got hit a lot in his day... Some of his best KO's were the result of a guy that thought they had him in trouble getting caught charging in. He also used to take one to give one.

I think if Igor clips him it's at the beginning of an explosive, devastating combo. I give it to Igor in a fire fight. Can't rely on countering a guy who will either sleep or stun you with any solid contact. Phone Post 3.0

Kerr had a hard time taking Igor down at first, and a basically fresh Coleman had a hard time taking a two fights in Igor down.

Igor accomplished more overall in his career by having the longest undefeated streak in legitimate MMA against what counted as top competition at the time and beating BJJ black belts(though had retired by the time competition was as diverse in skill as it was in Chuck's time), and stylistically matches up very well with Chuck. Chuck got caught against much, much lesser strikers than Igor, and if he got caught against Igor he was going to sleep.

Igor didn't have to worry about Coleman or Kerr landing bolos. He could focus 80% on tdd. Chuck is too multi dimensional Phone Post 3.0

LOL! Yeah, Chuck showed some killer submissions...

Dude only used his wrestling when was in trouble, and it's too late to do that once Igor hits you.

Igor had very good TDD and was never laid on, getting Igor down wasn't going to be easy, Igor just didn't use offensive wrestling. But neither did Chuck, he only used his wrestling to keep standing. He didn't use it against Wand or against Vitor, two strikers with lots of power who did bad against wrestlers.

Chuck could not get Igor down, and wouldn't try to going on his history.

He most certainly used it against Wanderlei. Phone Post 3.0
