Meet Mick, a Boston terrier who was turned over to Rochester, NY's Mia Foundation when he was six weeks old. Mick was suffering from Swimmer Puppy Syndrome, in which splayed legs prevent the animal from even sitting or standing. The group, which takes in animals with birth defects that might otherwise be euthanized, the little dog had a lot of fight in him as he went through intense therapy, that included having him propped up with his legs taped in the proper position. But mostly, he spent a lot of time working his legs in the tub suspended from a harness. Just sleeping on his side was a major breakthrough. But the hourly therapies worked: Mick is now able to walk.
It might look clumsy, but it's a whole new world for Mick.
