Motorcycle dorks harass family, beat father

It looks like a scene from a 9th grade production of a Sons of Anarchy remake.

But the ending on Sunday afternoon was all too real - A few of the riders pulled the 33-year-old driver from his black Range Rover and beat him on the ground in front of his wife and young child.

Alexian Lien, 33, was driving a black Range Rover northbound on the West Side Highway in Manhattan with his wife and two-year-old daughter in the car. The official said Lien called 911 to report a group of motorcyclists also in the northbound lanes driving erratically.

The ensuing encounter was captured on video by one on the motorcyclists, a member of the Front Line Soldiers Motorcyle Club. The groups colors can be seen on a number of the bikers.

Around 30 seconds into the video, a motorcyclist braked hard in front of the SUV.

The SUV appears to make impact with the motorcyclist just out of frame.

The biker with the camera ends up too far ahead for the next part of the incident to be clearly visible, but the law enforcement official said Lien and the motorcyclist both pulled over, at which point the group of bikers surrounded the Range Rover and started attacking it.

Lien sped off with his wife and toddler in the car, and can be seen around 50 seconds into the video striking and driving over some of the motorcyclists that had stopped.

The bikers stop around him again around 5 minutes into the video.

One of the bikers gets off his bike and runs at the SUV, apparently attempted to open the driver’s side door, and Lien again takes off, running over what appears to be an unattended bike.

Lien exited the highway around West 178th Street and pulled over between Wadsworth Avenue and St. Nicholas Avenue. The law enforcement official said Lien was forced to do so because his tires had gone flat due to damage done to the car when the bikers first surrounded him.

The video ends with the bikers surrounding the stopped SUV again. One of the bikers gets off his bike, takes off his helmet and starts beating the driver’s side window with it repeatedly, apparently breaking it.

The law enforcement official said about 20 to 30 bikers attacked the SUV and ultimately assaulted Lien. The bikers fled the scene and Lien was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with two black eyes and other injuries to his face and torso that required stitches.

No arrests have been made yet, but the law enforcement official said an investigation is still being conducted. The official said a witness followed the bikers to a Shell gas station at 181st Street and Amsterdam Avenue, and police will be reviewing video from the gas station today.

Alexian Lien, the SUV driver brutally beaten by a mob of motorcyclists in New York City Sept. 29, appears to be fully recovered from his injuries, as 11 of the motorcycle riders who pulled him from his vehicle and assaulted him were indicted Friday.Among those now facing trial on charges ranging from assault and criminal mischief to rioting is Wojciech Braszczok, 32, an undercover New York police officer who was off duty while riding with the large pack of motorcyclists. The cop is accused of taking part in the attack by smashing the back window of Lien’s Range Rover.Lien was in the vehicle with his wife and two-year-old daughter when the group of bikers surrounded his vehicle. A video which was quickly posted on the internet brought national attention to the frightening incident. In the video, one of the bikers appears to slow in from of the Range Rover. Lien’s vehicle then accidentally bumps the motorcycle, setting off the incident. As the angry motorcyclists swarm the vehicle, Lien hits the gas. As he speeds away, he runs over another one of the bikers, Edwin Mieses, who reportedly suffered spinal damage that may rob him of the ability to walk.Among the indicted riders was Christopher Cruz, identified as the motorcyclist who suddenly hit the brakes directly in front of Lien’s SUV, causing the initial contact. Cruz faces a charge of third-degree criminal mischief which could land him a three-year prison term. The other indicted riders face more serious counts that could lead to 25-year terms.Lien was hospitalized after the beating, but when a New York Daily News photographer saw him Sunday, his face showed no signs of the bruises or lacerations that were conspicous a little more than month ago.The original video of the incident is below.
