i've got a 2004...bought it January 2005..already has 72,000 miles on it...awesome vehicle...sucks ALOT of gas though....everything else i like...i am looking at changing it for a new one later on..i like the new ones and the 2006 was SUV of the year in Motor Trend

I love mine! Took it to Moab last month. Just know that the knock sensor will go out.

Apparently, it's a serious pain in the ass to replace yourself and it costs between $600 and $1000 to have the dealer do it (mine quoted me $900). Here's the thing though, it's hotly debated whether you actually need to replace the thing when it goes out. Go to any xterra club website and you'll hear a lot of people saying theirs has been out for like 4 years or whatever with no ill effects. Mine has been out for at least nine months (since I've had the Xterra) with no problems. I have only made a cursory examination of the technical issues. But from a non-technical perspective, it makes sense to me that as long as your car isn't knocking (make sure you use the 87 octane not the 85 if your below 4000 ft elevation in the Xterra)then you don't need the knock sensor to do anything.

i had the oxygenation(knock) sensor on my previous car on for about 3 years...no issues i would trade mine for another Xterra OR Pathfinder, Armada or a damn H3

the o2 sensor is not the knock sensor.
