My good offroading friend had to move up, sold his built up jeep and got an Exterra offroad edition. Quite impressed we were, at the offroad capability box stock from the showroom, the electronic lockers worked excellent and the hill decent worked well (a bit noisy). I also have spent some time driving the older version Xterra, Underpowered imo. The new one is quite good all around I would say. Unfortunately it was stolen, so I can give you a longevity report.

sounds impressive. however, there's somethign to say about building up your own jeep. just feels better that YOU built it up slowly. havign said that, your input was valuable. thanks.

Gforce - no problem there: i'm 5'8 also, jeeps are notorious for being built up with after parts. any build ups for vehicles such as the XTerra or the Pathfinder or the cruiser?

I'm 6'1" and found the xterra to be fine, though the seat quality was one of my major complaints.

I've put 71K miles on my Xterra in 2 years. It's dependable, strong..all around great vehicle. I was thinking of upgrading to the newer version (mine is 2004). I truly love it. The FJ cruiser looks a BIT too girly for me but maybe because i've mostly seen women driving it here on the island. Down side to the Xterra is gas mileage. It's a bit rough (but i get company gas card so i don't sweat it.). Mine is 6 cylinder. If you're expecting speed, forget it. It's all power.

i am more about power than speed. my cherokee is a 6 cyl and that would be my minimum for any vehicle i drive. i don't really need an 8 cylinder because i don't haul anything. i do lots of snowboarding, backpacking, fishing: all my gear fits nicely on roof racks or in the vehicle. i'll probably be in colorado soon so i'll need a vehicle i can lift up maybe 6 inches and possibly beef up the tires a bit, thoguh nothing HUGE. anyone have a pic of a muscled up xterra, pathfinder, cruiser, or heck, even a 4-runner? i don't like the fact that the xterra is a gas-guzzler. in this day and age, i'd like my vehicle to be as efficient as possible though i understand it comes with the territory. thanks for all the input so far. anyone have anything about the cruiser?

mine was the supercharged SE. the only thing that sucked was the colour. i was driving around my g/f at the time, and she caught a glimpse of us in the reflection of a shop window and commented that she felt like Ken and an Asian Barbi. my recommendation: get it painted.

green? i like the black one. the green one looks like it's got 6" spacers on it. i wonder if they can have a beefier, wider tire on there by cutting out the wheel well and placing jeep-accessories styled bushwhacker flares on it. that cruiser woudl then look fuggin awesome!

It is a landrover defender 110 country, the best offroader in the world, bar none, you do have them in the states (in fact you got some really sweet V8 versions), just not for sale new anymore due to the rule that all new cars must have airbags US defenders for sale on Ebay http://motors.search.ebay.com/land-rover-defender_Defender_W0QQfromZR34QQsacatZ31849 The one in the pic has had the wings modded to take the tyres and running boards added As you might be able to guess, I love the Defender and will probably cry when landrover retire it and create some plastic computer driven crossover SUV and brand it the Defender 2
