Eddie Griffin walks away from wreck of $1.5 million Ferrari -- Photos of the remains of the rare car Eddie Griffin destroyed. IRWINDALE, Calif. -- Eddie Griffin crashed a rare Ferrari Enzo worth $1.5 million into a concrete barrier while practicing at a racetrack Monday, destroying the car but escaping uninjured. The comedian was practicing for a charity race to promote his upcoming film, Redline, when he drove too fast around a curve at the Irwindale Speedway. Video footage showed the red sports car screeching before it ricocheted off the barrier with heavy damage to its front. "Undercover Brother's good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can't drive," Griffin, referring to one his past films, said after the accident. The film's publicist, Wendy Zocks, said Griffin was "doing OK." "He walked away completely unscratched, but probably a little shaken," Zocks said. The Enzo, valued at around $1.5 million, was owned by the executive producer of Redline, Daniel Sadek, whose exotic car collection is featured in the movie. Sadek said that the car was damaged beyond repair and that he had "mixed feelings" about the wreck. "I'm glad Eddie came out of the crash OK, but my dream car got destroyed," Sadek said. "I went to my trailer for about 15 minutes and I thought, there's people dying every day. A lot of worse things are happening in the world." Only 400 Ferrari Enzos were ever produced, all between 2002 and 2004. Griffin's credits include the comedies Undercover Brother; Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and its sequel; Date Movie; and Norbit. laughing after wrecking the Enzo more happiness. AP

I don't know who he talked to, but that is not beyond repair, a quick trip back to maranello and a few bits of bonded carbon fibre and it'll be good as new, it doesn't even look like the suspension geometry is screwed I've seen exotics come back from much worse.

Anyone who would pay that much for a car deserves it. Unless it has machine guns and smokescreens, 1.5 million=asinine.

Funny to see all the "money isnt everything" minded people complaining about someone owning a $1.5m car. If he can afford it, why is it a problem? Any human male in their right mind would want to own an exotic car if they could pay for it. If you say no, then you have no ambition, or you're gay. JB

So what, that crooked exec from the Gizmondo handheld gaming system wrecked a Bugatti and told the cops a German guy he didn't know was driving, who then ran away from the scene.

There's a reason why amateur racing events are in large parking lots (edit: though of course walls are good to protect people, just google for video on auto cross crashes). Heck I went to a GM in the seat car show where I drove a corvette in the middle of a parking lot with no walls nearby. They still had a trained race instructor in the car with you, giving you basic advice and riding with a hand on the emergency brake.

Grady, there are videos that show him rounding that corner previously so he knew exactly what was coming, and there is nothing wrong with that corner other than the speed at which he was travelling and his lack of driving skill. The Enzo is an incredibly safe vehicle to crash in, guys have walked away from 180+ mph crashes. I think it can handle a 45 mph crash just fine, nothing to be happy about as his dumb ass just ruined a piece of automotive art.

Unless somehow the impact did enough damage to the carbon fibre tub that surrounds the passeger compartment, I don't see why it would be a write off. Ferarri has spare bodywork for those, though they might be a tiny bit different as they are part of the XXT program(privately owned test cars). A composite tub could theoretically be fractured to the point of weakening the overall structure enough to FUBAR it, but I'd be surprised if that bang was enough. I agree with johnnypayne, doesn't even look like suspension mounts have been deformed, it rolls smooth after the impact.
