Wow very nice! Just needs a small tree or something in there to break it up a bit. Looks like they have access to shade with the trees nearby anyways. Any burrows dug yet? The only concern you may have is that they can make deep and long burrows, how far do the sides go down? It would suck if they burrowed out by accident. It's AWESOME to see someone put that much effort into such a great enclosure, you deserve massive credit for taking care of your animals like that !!

No burrows dug yet. I have had him for about 5 years and had a much smaller enclosure before (6X10) and he never dug down in it either. have read that as long as they have a covered area to go into that they shouldnt dig too much. As for the walls, they go down about 2 feet and I poured a concrete footer around the base so I an not to worried about digging. I do have some dog houses to put in there that somone gave me. I still do not have him out there full time as I want to do some more things first. Plus I may have found him a 70lb girlfriend. I will keep posting after I add some more things.

Wow that's incredible. I was gonna ask if there was a footer but assumed not(incorrectly i might add lol. Yeah i guess if after 5 years of no digging you really likely have nothing to worry about anyways, but have teken steps just in case, i like the foresight involved. Please do keep us updated, i've always been fascinated with torts, sulcattas especially. Yours looks like it's obviously been well taken care of, very little pyramiding too which is nice. I imagine with more time outside, the natural sunlight etc that you may even notice some different behavious. Let us know what's happening, this is very cool. I wish i had a big enough yard for something like that. Even if just for the summer months up here.

Where do you live? I live in southern california in the middle of the high desert. There's actually a tortoise refuge near by. It's a huge fenced in area with barbed wire because I guess they're endangered.

I always pictured these animals living in these type of conditions however I see green at your place. So they don't necessarily live in these dry areas and can thrive? Sorry for the ignorance.

Thanks..
I just got back from the Daytona show.

cycklops, it depends on what kinda tortoise. The temps here in Middle Ga are pretty good and they are out most of the year expect at night when they tuck themselves in.

JoelN,
Love to! Come on down! I make all my own cages. I have a few power tools and I know just enough to be dangerous :

Sweet bloods. I kept one for somebody back in college.

Great snakes.

You gotta male coastal phase cal king that is breeding size or will be by next year?

...I know, what are the odds of that but it never hurts to ask.

Naa.. I only keep Bloods on the snake end now..
I have 12 ( just picked up 2 high end T +'s ) that I need to get some pics on. One has some lavendar melting through.

You may want to try kingsnake.com for the Cal King. If you find one you like be sure to check Fauna.com for any negitive feedback on the seller. Sometimes it is better to have looked before the purchase than after!!
