I am considering a 2004 kaw nomad 1500 for 7k or 2003 vtx 1800 for 7.5k. mostly city driving, ocassional long haul. nomad more decked out. It is time to move up from the 1100 shadow. how much do chains suck to maintain? I wanted the vtx for awhile but then just saw a nice nomad.

If you're long haul riding get a scottoiler for your chain. Other than that I just check the tension every 500 miles and adjust if neccessary, its really no big deal. If you're riding a bike where the weight and small power loss of a shaft drive doesn't matter then it is nice to never F with it. I have no opinion on which crusier is better than another. They're all slow and ugly. :-)

The VTX is a torquey bike and I would love that for a daily driver. I'd rather have a bike I could light up the tire with the throttle rather than a screamer. Hondas are the most reliable motorcycles, just change the oil and some other stuff.

thanks, went with the Kawasaki vulcan nomad 2005, it just came with more bells and whistles and I guess that year they switched to shaft it is a badass bike
