The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall Anyone checked out this book? One reviewer calls it the bastard love child of The Matrix, Jaws and the Davinci Code. Seems to have quite the odd webpage too: http://rawsharktexts.com/

Thank you - I saw this on the Chuck Palahniuk website and then I forgot the name and I went back and it was gone. I will request from the library and report back. Although I have a backlog of 3 books I have to read first.

just requested it - it will be a while there's already 3 holds on it, but they have 4 copies which are all checked out so hopefully it won't take too long.

Apparently it's the hottest literary option in Hollywood right now. I saw the book at the store before I heard about all the hype and it looks interesting.

It's waiting on the hold shelf at the library for me. I'm picking it up today or tomorrow.

I have it - I just have to finish up Bankok 8 first. That was a recommendation from another OG member. So far that is good as well.

Great book - I just finished it a couple days ago. It's hard to explain - you just kind of have to read it for yourself

The concept for this book is SO original. Like Jefft73 said, it's a little tough to describe, but what it basically deals with is conceptual preditory fish (sharks) that attack and feed on human thoughts, memories, ideas, etc. Definitely recommend it for the idea alone.

I just finished this last night. It took me a few days as I found it to be a tough read. Anyhow, it took about 200 pages before I got pulled into the story. I thought it borrowed a bit too much "Jaws" in spots. All in all not a bad book, with a great concept.

Decent ideas, some very good parts, but really, all the stuff about conceptual seas and lifeforms, was all just babble so the author could have magic and a hidden underworld of magic in his book. The Mycroft Ward creation was a fresher take on a tried and true concept of a hive mind being, than the Ludovician and such was on magic and hidden worlds. Still recommended, but if there is alot of hype around this book, don't read into the hype, just read the book. I read it before hearing anything about other than reading the dust jacket, and seeing some of the hype for it afterwards, it would have spoiled much of the appeal. Spoiler warning----------------------------------------Yes, the ending is basically a complete take off of Jaws.

I enjoyed the book quite a bit. I loved the concepts of both the ludovician and mycroft ward, I thought they were pretty original. IMO, a fantastic novel. With regret and also hope, The first Seul

Why do I hear "Rorschach Tests" when I read the title out loud?  ;-)  That could not have been coincidental....

great book! i really enjoyed this one. i think he could've done a little more with mycroft ward, and the ending is jaws-but i think that's part of the book's charm.
