I was reading through some of Matt's old interviews and came across him mentioning this book from 1906. Anyone have any details on this? I'd love to try to find a copy of this, or other old books showing 'new concepts' like this...

Awesome, a number, who printed it or just the full name of who wrote it would be great. I love looking for these 'nothing new under the sun' type books.

You might also want to talk to Alan at Modern Combatatives in Berkeley. He has a US Navy Wrestling instructional book from the early 1940s that not only has a ton of great information on how to train but also techniques like the kimura ("double wrist lock") and the triangle, etc. John

Another good one: SCIENCE OF WRESTLING AND THE ART OF JIU JITSU by Earle Liederman American strength-training pioneer Earle Liederman published this book on grappling for competition and self-defense in 1923. (Liederman & Higashi (kicked out of the kodokan for prize fighting)) Dave Copeland
