Had what I thought was a HIM for four years. And SHE had two little snake babies last night. Both dead. But the funny thing is SHE did it all on HER own. Parthenogenesis Later KICK

If it has even been in contact with others of it's kind it could also be sperm retention. Some snakes have been known to hold the swimmers for up to several years. Very cool either way and only DNA analysis i believe can tell for sure if there's any unknown factors.

When I caught it 4 years ago it wasnt as long as a dollar bill. My guess it was maybe a month old. So the sperm retention is out. A guy I talk to said two or three years max for it. I have both of them in the frezzer now. someone from the DNR is supposed to be giving me a call.. Sorry no pics... But they Look nothing like the mother.. KICK

That's pretty wild if it is parthenogenis. They're starting to see it in sharks also. I wonder if there's any other recorded instances where this has happened in snakes. Keep us posted.

Not that uncommon with snakes. They can produce an egg by themselves, as well. I've never heard of any surviving young, though.
