I am looking for a really bullet proof bike that can handle fairly tight trails. I don't need a super fast bike or something that can take high jumps. I am interested in a XR250. I already have a XR200. Any other suggestions?

wr250's a Sweet bike. the new school 4 strokes are 2x the maintenance as your XR. I would check out the XR 400.

Thanks Mad Tiger, I am leaning towards a XR250 because it does better in the tight trails.

You know wot honestly not all that much of a difference.

But enough difference in power where I think you'd appreciate the 400 a lot more.

Plus its not crazy power either like a crf450.. those things are just plain insane.

Kg's one had a 480cc kit with every bell and whistle. imo Definately take a ride on a 250 and 400 if can to compare!

Good luck!

although they are pricey...the KTM's are f-ing rad. My dad has a KTM EXC 300 and it rocks. (and that old fart shreds trails @ 65 yrs old) I used to have a DR 400-Z...pretty good bike too just my two cents. H

DRZ400s gets my vote, gotta have a plate on there to hit all the trails. Plenty of very powerful bikes these days, however the suzuki will run forever without a rebuild. Plenty of aftermarket support to hop it up a bit if you find it lacking and they are cheap. When Honda first introduced the XR400 they sure missed the mark not offering a street legal version. Couse a XR650R with a Baja designs kit on it would be nice too.

Are KTM's reliable and are they about as easy as a Honda to do maintenece on? Are parts expensive or hard to get. I saw a KTM for sale and I have heard good things about them though I don't have much experience with them.

Update, I am thinking about bootlegging my POS XR to street legal status. I found a guy who is willing to give me a saftey check with false blinkers and a non working speedometer. My only hope is that the county inspector doesn't check the bike good. I only need the bike to get to the trails, I don't want a commuter because I will probably die sooner or later from all these crazy drivers here. Mad Tiger, how is your brother doing? Is he ever going to fight MMA? He has good size and if Brad Imes can pull off a gogoplata just think what a BJJ black belt could do.
