I almost cracked and bought a mustang gt/cs but after thinking with my brain and not my heart a 500+ a month carpayment and 15mpg isnt the most economical thing to do. I make good money, but I just dont think a car should be an expense like that. I could use that money for other things like a vacation, or so forth. So Im looking at the hybrids, the prius and the civic. Both have great gas mileage, great options for the price, gps and all features for under 25000. Im wondering if any of you have one and what they are like on the road, maintanance, and so forth.

you will find that the hybrids will soon have a falling resale value.the replacement batteries for the electric motor are very very expensive.the batteries are going to last 7-10 years then they will have to be replaced. i had a guy come into our shop that is fighting with toyota now because the cable on the positive side of his prius battery was either left loose or not checked by a dealer tech and the battery is now bad. the price was not given to me he just said "we are talking several thousand dollars here" rumor has it that the price is 4-7 thousand dollars for the complete job.

seriously? That completly eliminates the value of a hybrid. They already cost close to 5 thousand more than a regular car, and so it takes about 6 years of use to make up for that in gas savings. Then once youve finally broke even, you have to go and buy a 4 thousand dollar battery? WTF? and I bet that battery isnt exactly eco friendly either. fuck that, fuck hybrids

VW=poor reliability and slightly higher repair cost. Altima, no question.

went to a nissan dealer today, I really like the altima's. Comparing to a maxima, you get a lot more options for same price for an altima. For around 28000 you get an amazingly equiped vehicle. I like the looks of it better than the honda's as well. Ill wait a few months or so to see what happens. I believe this is a new model of ultima for nissan this year and want to see if any recalls occur.
