Yeah, I like that G8 alot too. However, the Buick Park Ave/Super/Lucerne/Whatever it will be called looks really sharp. Of course I would put some 20s on that bitch and start ridin' dirty. Mark

I just wish they would put the LS3 in the G8 instead of the "wimpier" L76.  430hp vs 365hp....

Are they planning a Gen V motor for that Buick?

yeah, but i think a nice turbo setup or vortech supercharger will make up the gap just fine.

"A chinese Buick I saw in Detroit has been available in Australia?" That "chinese buick" is based on the Australian designed VE series Holden;-)

I have heard rumours that a GXP version of the G8 may receive the 430 hp LS3. I am praying that it happens.....have you heard anything about that Mark? If you are worried that 363 hp and 390 lb ft aren't enough in the G8 there is already a TT kit available for it, producing upwards of 600 hp. Search for Gen TT and you should find some info.

Most have no idea what to do with hp. Nice to know these cars come with traction control or youtube will be clogged with crash videos.

QSM, all black interior w red cluster, M6, 17"s. i got it at about 8k miles (and i'm actually the 3rd owner), at about 12k miles on it now. checked the GMVIS report on it and it was a clean bill of health. no problems or oil spotting from any of the struts so far, doesn't burn oil like some of the '06 LS2's were reported to be doing, seems to be one of the lucky ones on the production dates (it was actually on the cusp for the end of the run of bad struts with an 04/06 build date). knock on wood so far so good! beyond that, i cant stop driving it... its the best thing thats happened to me all summer (all year really) and my enthusiasm doesnt seem to be fading anytime soon. i got a 5%APR/4 yr loan through my wifes credit union, so this ones a keeper. all stock for now, looking at a complete pedders suspension kit for the first upgrade after i save a couple more bucks. not sure after that, 18"s for the spring for sure, but would like to do some go fast upgrades over the winter...

^^STS rear mount turbo should give you great bang for your buck as far as go fast mods are concerned.

You're looking at $8-10K for a professionally installed turbo kit and tune.  That includes the STS kit, which is not a good bang for the buck if you want a full kit with intercooler.  And the STS kit requires some modification to make it work well.  IMO the best kit out there is the APS, followed closely by the GenTT.  The procharger is a good option as well, but you will need headers to get the full potential, and it seems like guys are constantly swapping pulleys to get the most out of the setup.

Then you have to worry about your transmission, drive shaft, rear end, etc, not to mention the bottom end of your engine.  All it takes is one burnt injector wire and your motor is gone.  You also have to upgrade wheels and tires, and a new clutch or stall if it's an auto.  If you're going FI on a GTO, put aside $15K, because you will probably need it.  It's pretty much the same for any LSx car, unless the G8 comes with some ridiculously strong driveline.

Not trying to rain on the parade, but FI is expensive and not an option for most people.  All I want is an extra 55HP from the factory!

FI is definitely not a cheap route but there are lots of guys doing it. A few months back in Car and Driver there was an article pitting modified American vehicles vs a stock C6 Z06, one of them being an STS turbo'd Goat. It was chsen as the all around best bang for the buck, sporting 900 hp and almost pulling 200 mph in the standing mile.
