Predict the number of games suspension here. - Suter did very similar to Kariya and got 4 games IIRC, but that was in the older, kinder NHL. - Downie got 20, and he's on the same team... so are they going to go heavier because it's the Flyers again? To me, this incident is WORSE than the Downie hit, because the Downie hit was at least him trying to do something that is legal (the hit) but went over the line and did it illegally. Whereas Boulerice did something that is ALWAYS illegal (cross-check) and used his stick as a weapon. To th neck/face area. Where if he hits the right spot, the player could die. Boulerice is lucky; he could have been another Bertuzzi tonight. That being said I would have given Downie like 10-12 games, and Boulerice 15-20. What I think Boulerice will get is actually like 10. For some reason, the NHL doesnt seem to care as much for stick infractions. Also, Downie's hit cause McAmmond a concussion + laying on the ice unconscious. Kesler probably doesnt have anything that will keep him out of the game for long, and I dont think he was unconscious for long, if at all. I was at the game tonight, 12th row lower bowl right in the corner where Kesler got hit. Funny enough, I missed the hit live, and so did my buddy, and I had to come home to see the hit on the highlights.

"Boulerice has hardly had a spotless record in his past, having been suspended for a year in junior for, wait for it, a violent stick to the face that put the victim in hospital with multiple injuries, including a brain contusion."

Boulerice was suspended for life from the OHL, funny thing is it was one of the last(if not *the* last?) game of his OHL career anyways. He then sat out 6 weeks in the AHL and has been a career repeat offender. I'd have said 10 games, but taking the Downie deal in account and his past, he may get the same 20 games.

20 games at least, makes me sick. Either way its not a big deal to the flyers, Boulerice does shit for them, however he doesn't make much money so he'll pay for it with his wallet.

Philadelphia forward Jesse Boulerice was suspended 25 games by the NHL on Friday for crosschecking Vancouver's Ryan Kesler across the face, the second Flyer in three weeks to receive a ban of at least 20 games.

he forfeits 63000 dollars in pay as well. the guy is no first time offender. when he played in the ohl he hit another player with a baseball swing and was suspended for a year and faced criminal charges. the guy is a fringe player, no loss to the flyers. looks like the league is serious about cracking down on this stuff.

unless fighting is banned form the league, these players will not vanish cause every team feels they need protectors for their top players.

there are protectors, and there are dregs that just play dirty and don't know their place.

Im an Aussie, only thing i know about NHL is from playing the EA games they were sick. I was killing time here on the OG & googled the hit on Kesler. This came up in a "related topic": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aNG4uOpwUI&feature=related Its a blatant strike to the head with the stick by Boulerice from '98. Might be the hit steamfitter was talkin' about...
