For boxing history fans: Sixty years after his death, there's a new Jack Johnson autobiography. Published in French during his exile in Europe and never before translated. Substantially different from the one everyone already knows ("Jack Johnson: In the Ring and Out"). Geoffrey Ward uncovered this earlier memoir when he was doing the research for "Unforgivable Blackness" and he has written an intro. for it. It's on amazon: "My Life and Battles" by Jack Johnson.

Cool. I am currently reading "The Great White Hopes". It is about the procession of white contenders to take on Johnson after he won the title. So far it is very informative.

What I found amazing was that Johnson was doing all the same shit and living the same lifestyle that boxers are doing nowadays and think theyre hot shit.
