channeling WC17.... Damn my Canes are looking good this year. A little rest for some of the old bodies on D has done this team good. As well as getting Cam Ward to lose the 25 lbs of baby fat he was carrying. We've responded well to the early injury bug showing depth as well. The team that beat the Sabres 6-2 tonight is freakin hamstrung with Cole and Walker out amongst others.

They are playing some damn good hockey. Hope for their sake they can keep it up and not burn out by Christmas. They sure looked good vs Vancouver and holy crap are they a fast team.

I love the Canes this year, so fun to watch. Why are they good? Cam ward came in better shape. Also their PP improved drastically, how did they do that? Two Names: Jeff Hamilton and Matt Cullen Two very underrated players, one former cane, and the other a diamond in the rough found by Rutherford. Curious to see if they can continue to play amazing hockey without Cole and walker.

That had to be you reffing that game with the quick whistle at the end ;P Wings looked scary as per usual. Good game, looking forward to the next time.

I tried, but couldn't last past the first period. Damn west coast trips.... I watched a little of Bieksa, but not enough to form an opinion. I heard Hudler's game winner was pretty slick. Mark

Understandable at your advanced age ;P Yep, no cheap goals from the Wings this time, and a much more even game. Too bad the ref said he intended to blow the whistle before the puck went in at the end, that game was heading to OT. That's right the replay showed he blew the whistle quick but even so it was after the puck was already in the net. Bieksa has been off his game early this year, just starting to get it back. He hasn't shown his nasty streak really. Zetterberg was frightening though, and Derek Meech looked great for the Wings, he's a keeper for sure.

Yeah, its great to watch him and 'Zook play together. However, I am scared they might cool off just as quick... Mark

That Meech is gonna be one to watch on D. Zetterberg I could see keeping it going, "'Zook" was invisible for parts then showed flashes here and there. I could see him cooling off but as long as he's playing with Zetterberg he's gonna get points anyways.

Snigglefish whats up with canes? I seriously don't even know what team I'm watching with them the past month or so. Are the fans in Raleigh feeling the same? The team hasn't been exciting lately, and the offense is dying, save for the 3rd line. It's like defense is becoming a secondary issue, offense shows up for like 20 minutes a game.

The head scratching is going on in earnest here. Local board had a great quote "The Canes or the Can'ts". They got a ton of shots off Wed against Philly...but not too much quality. Then defensive gaffes cost us the game.

I'm kinda glad they took that 8-1 beating by those damn sabres, now maybe the canes will wake up and realize they aren't losing cause of lucky bounces or whatever. Its a big slump, and I'm sure they'll be much better next game in New York.
