Just interested in some opinions please. I have never owned a diesel before......not for any other reason than I just never got around to buying one.....but having spent the last few months looking at various company car options, I have narrowed it down to the the following two cars: -

BMW 330d SE (or maybe Sport)

Audi A4TDi 3.0 SE Quattro (2008 model)

Anyway, I figured this was as good a place as any to gauge some feedback on these cars and see what you guys thought. I know the new A4 isn't available for test drive yet, but I have driven the A5 3.0TDi Q and I have to say I thought it was a very nice drive. Just how similar to the new A4 it is, I can't say. But the new A4 will share it's wheelbase and much of the interier.

Anyway, the reason I have never owned a BMW is quite simple, I know they are second to none on the drive side, but shallow as it seems, I have never found the interior inspiring.......its just so, well, ordinary. Am I being unfair?

I was going to ask why does it have to be a diesel, but those car models aren't available in the US I think.

Haven't messed with diesel cars any, just trucks, but from what I've heard, the Audi diesels are pretty bad-ass.  I know they one the LeMans endurance race with a diesel vehicle.

elmo - yep, you are 100% correct. Accoding to Audi they have filtered down some of that technology from their lemans diesel engines into the model I am looking at. It's the 3.0 ltr turbo diesel, which pumps out 240bhp and has torque rating of 500 Nm from 1,500 to 3,000 rpm. The engine can be mapped easily to 271bhp.....not bad for a mid range exec car.
