the top 3 videos are of unarmoured and armoured longsword bouting using historical methods sandf techniques taken from the manuals and tested in training over years. http://www.thearma.org/Videos/TPVideos.htm The steel swords are not sharp of course. Enjoy

There are several other good videos on that page as well.

Found this nice clip of a flourysh done with a wooden waster:

Bludhall (or anyone), I ran across this pic on the ARMA site:

http://www.thearma.org/essays/fit/Fword.jpg

...and I'm having no luck in finding out just what kind of waster it is. From all appearances, it looks like a heavy round dowel with a quillon and hilt. I'd like to see some different views of it so that I could take a whack at making one myself. Looks like the hand-and-a-half version of the heavy wooden training swords used by the Roman army.

Another article by John Clements.

Warning!

• It's huge.

• Clements is a tool

The sausage kick video is awesome.

And I have too much exposed bone on my shoulders and collar to be playing with real steel.

Out of curiousty why do you feel Clements is a tool? Because he kept saying that 'everyone else is an idiot for not seeing this' basically over and over again, or some other reasons?

:)

Just about everything I've ever seen of his that's "groundbreaking" is @ 25% text on the topic, 25% pictures from old manuscripts, and 50% rant about how he's the one true god of HEMA and nobody else gets it like he does.

It's a shame; he's by far one of the better-skilled people who post videos(not that it's saying much because most of the longsword vids on youtube are just fuckin' embarassing), and he's evangelical about it, but FUCK...maybe it's little man syndrome.

Some nice pell work from a Clements disciple:

Kai, I'm hearing some really good things about the new plastic sword from Dave Rawlings. They can't keep up with demand.

It also looks like that Hanwei federschwert has been improved, so that it only flexes in the last 1/3 of the blade.

I got the same feeling from Clements stuff. The guy is knowledgable but definitely has a "only my way" attitude. Doesn't mean he hasn't alot of good things to say though, just not the most diplomatic way.

B&C: Pretty much, but still... Unlike bare hand, there's an element of 'Bang you're dead!' "No I'm not!" type of cowboys and Indians shit
