Start with these books. I just read them, and found them great. They are all based on on Science, and the new bourgening field of positive psychology Happiness: The Science behind your smile By Daniel Nettle (Cambridge Psychologist) Happier: by Tal Ben Shahar (Harvard Psychologist) The first one is an overview of all the scientific studies on happiness , the second book is more of a workbook to make your life happier. It gives you a bunch of different activities to partake in. In a nutshell, the best way to improve your quality of life is not to work endlessly to make changes in the outside world. I. E--making more money, buying a new car. But to change your perception of the world. YOu want to beome a more positive and mindful(of you own emotional states) person. You want to decrease stress, and lessen the amount of negative EMOTIONS in your life. While at the same time increasing the amount of positive emotions you feel. You want your baseline happiness to rise. Some key ways to do this are to ...exercise/ meditate/ sleep well/ eat well/ have a positive and grateful attitude.

The secrets to happiness By me. Get a hobby Get a dog Work for yourself or doing what you love Stop watching TV Exercise (shown to alleviate depression and most mental disorders in the psychiatric manual) Meditate (alleviates anxiety) Don't have unreasonable expectations about what being happy is or a particular idea of what success is. Its all about process. Keep getting better a little bit at a time and never tire of starting over. Keep learning Travel Help some other people

Heidegger will not improve the quality of your life. Probably you will be more depressed and morose afterword.

Every response is different which is dependent on the person. I think a generic answer is Mind/Body/Spirit...What do you do to improve on those 3 aspects? For me, improving my mind is about challenging myself intellectually which usually means putting in a good day of work and/or focusing on my career somehow. Improving my body is obviously doing something that keeps me fit and active such as BJJ. Spirit for me is improving my life socially through relationships through close friends and family. Also spirit also means to me, helping those in need. Whenever I do not do any of these things, the other suffers and my life is out of balance which is usually the case. At that point, I become pretty unhappy.

How can you improve the quality of your life? Answer that and you will know. Consider the "Magic Wand"; if I were to give you a Magic Wand and I told you you can change one thing about yourself or your life, what would you change? When you get that answer, figure out how to change it. Diagnosis first, then Cure.
