2 parts single malt one part amaretto over ice. I have never mixed scotch before but this is good.

It's funny to listen to the liquor police. I drink cause I like it, not to make people thin I'm cool. And please don't try and tell me that Glenfiddich is some high class liquor that shouldn't be mixed. Glenfiddich is tasty but in no way something you should be afraid of mixing. If you are a scotch drinker and buying Glenfiddich I don't even want to hear about proper scotch drinking.

Many recipes for this drink, seems every bartender knows the proper way to make it as they used to work at the Ritz or someplace fancy. Only thing I've seen as consistent is the Amaretto. Had it with scotch, vodka and brandy. Prefer brandy half and half with amaretto, brandy cuts the sweetness of amaretto, amaretto cuts the harshness of bar well brandy. Goes down real easy, great way to ply large amounts of highly alcoholic drinks to wimmens.

Blood and Sand: 1 part scotch, 1 part cherry brandy, 1 part sweet vermouth, 1 part orange juice. Shake and strain. This is the only drink I've ever used scotch as a mixer. I use something Joseph Barr Scotch. It's pretty cheap but still is decent.

I have now tried about ten variations and I think the amaretto works best with brandy for me.

If you are a scotch drinker and buying Glenfiddich I don't even want to hear about proper scotch drinking." it has nothing to do with being cool. You develop a taste for and appreciate good whiskey. You might not like the taste of alcohol and that's your business. A lot of people don't like the taste of alcohol especially women, that's why they call all those mixed drinks "girl drinks". Glennfiddich is good scotch, it comes from the Speyside of Scotland, the same area of Scotland where Glenlivet and McCallan come from. I prefer Glenlivet, and it comes down to preference, but just because you appreciate good whiskey and think it's a waste when you ruin it by mixing it, doesn't make you "the liquor police"
