Philosophy majors rock the GRE: http://www.lclark.edu/~phil/gre.html Amazingly, they score better than English majors on the verbal portions of the test. If I could back to my freshman year, I would double major in philosophy and math.

Verbal 680 (96%)/ math 690 (70%) on the paper test for me. I can't believe the percentages are so different and that people do so much better on math than verbal.

It totally depends, is it median for the program you're applying to? Kind of a thing. It is definitely improvable though.

I took it a while ago, 2004 I think. Ended up; getting the job I wanted and opted not to go to graduate school.

As a former philosophy major and current practitioner of administrative law, I can provide some perspective from teh law itself. The following (sentence ?) is found at APA Sect. 704...

"Except as otherwsie expressly required by statute, agency action otherwise final is final for the purposes of this section whether or not there has been presented or determined an application for a declaratory order, for any form of reconsideration, or unless the agency otherwise requires by rule and provides that the action meanwhile is inoperative, for an appeal to a superior agency authority."

This is one sentence only, and it is not an unusual sentence in the APA in terms of lack of clarity.

Who BUT a philosophy major is going to even have the desire to figure out what the sentence means. This, though, is also why I like (and am good at) admin law.
