Is Hartsburg using this kid correctly? Do you think that he should have more ice time, less ice time, or is he getting the right amount? I've seen Hartsburg make a couple of comments where it sounded like Taverez was out of place out there but that he is slowly adjusting to the pace and talent level. Any thoughts.

Yeah I dunno, seems like he's not using him enough. Sure he doesnt have much experience yet as some of the other guys, but the guy can play that much is clear.

4 goals and Hartsburg used more the last couple of games. USA vs CAN!

i believe he was playing on the same line as stamkos.. but he will get more ice time vs. US because this team just doesn't seem to have the ability to score consistently.

Actually he started out as the 13th forward and was only seeing time on the pp and the odd shift. With the scoring difficulty though they have started using him more. Stamkos has been getting a regular shift the whole time. Just find it weird how Stamkos is getting a regular shift and they've been raving about him instead of Tavarez.

i think that i've only seen a few games in which tavares/stamkos have played - but the stats for tavares are clearly superior. i've read that tavares lacks the dynamic skating that stamkos has - but what are the other differences? is tavares an offense only player? is stamkos better all around? i know that the stats dont tell the whole story on a player, but it seems out of place to not be playing someone with tavares' scoring ability on a regular basis.

Great puck control from Tavares and that magic ability to make stuff happen out of nothing. Stamkos will be a great overall player but less exciting to watch from what I've seen so far.

The major knock on Tavarez is that he isn't much of a two way player with Oshawa but he has been playing two ways with the world jrs. I think the main reason why he doesn't play two way in Oshawa is because he plays every other shift, which are always atleast a minute and a half and he plays the whole 2 minutes on the PP. So that would limit anyone's ability to play hard every second of every shift. I think it's obvious that Tavarez has the superior skills to Stamkos, but I do really like Stamkos.

Well the book on Tavares like Bob Mckenzie said he isnt a two way player persay but thats because he is used to playing in Oshawa where he takes 2-3 minutes shifts and can do it because its no WJC competition. Mckenzie went on to say that Tavares has bought in to playing 40-45 sec shifts and playing both ways hard at the WJC.

Gotta love that Tavares called his OHL coach to see if he could play the day the juniors got back from the tournament.
