i'm gonna buy some new irons in a few months when we can play up here in new england. I love my mizuno wedges but im a little unsure how id do with forged irons. Im debating on r7s or Mizuno blades.

Anyone have any thoughts on the TaylorMade RAC OS2 series? I am thinking about getting their 2005 set, and I hear that they are very forgiveable

They are pretty forgiving. I played a little with them. They hit the ball very high.

What are your thoughts on them? Did you like them? I normally hit the ball pretty low with my current swing and set up.

I didn't like them because they hit it too high for me. Like most game improvement clubs, they have a slight draw bias. I like TM irons alot. I don't want to give too much of an opinion on these because they're not clubs designed for me (I don't need height or more draw...two things these clubs give in spades) They sound like they may be a good fit for you.

Ping s59.. I hit the mp-33s a little when I was looking but I've had Ping for 3 iron sets in a row and just felt more comfortable staying with them. I still have my i3 blades if anyone wants to buy them :)

i almost got the s59'sbut the mizunos just felt better.

ping should have stopped making irons after the eye-2, they still haven't produced anything that feels as good.  the s-59 is as close as they've come.

I liked the s59's and actually have the s58's now.. it was late last night so you'll have to give me a break at not knowing what clubs I have lol.. I haven't really noticed a difference between the 59's and 58's..

I've found I'm a little too hard on forged clubs. I can't afford a new set every 2 years.

yeah, bk, that's the only bad part.

i hate to see guys carrying around irons with the grooves worn out.  i just want to tell them to get some new shit, that looks stupid.

What about the Callaway X-20 tour? I was hitting them the other day at GolfTown. The felt nice but that could have been the fact with any club seeing it's cold as fuck in Toronto right now and swinging a club was like heaven! Brooks

^Very good iron with a good right up. I think they come with the Project X Rifle shaft which is nice. You need a bit of game for these. I'd say around 12-14 handicap would be the cutoff. If you're a 15 or more, the regular X-20 would probably help you more.

Thanks Killer I was a 11-12 but seem to play higher than that the last couple of years. I still like to think of myself as a 12....then the score card adds up to well... not a 12. Might stay away from the tour like you mentioned... really I need to get my handicap figured out again and go from there. Brooks

The other question would be ball flight. If you hit a very high ball, go Tour. If you struggle getting it up in the air, especially in the mid irons (5,6,7), get the normal ones.

i had the x-20 tours about a year ago.  i didn't like them because there was a gap in between some of the irons that was giving me some problems.  hit some balls with them, played a few rounds with them and gave them to my dad, he loves them.

other people hitting them say they're the best irons they've ever hit.

They modified it a bit. It looks like a different club when compared to the plain x-20 (as opposed to a modified X-20. Ernie was playing a muscleback Callaway iron at the Honda that looked SWEET.

that's the model i had.  are you talking about the x-18's?  those x-20's are the same as they were when they came out last year.

ernie might have been playing the x-forged or a prototype.   i do like those x-forged, not as much as these mp-33's, but they are very nice feeling clubs.

They've got four new models. The AP 1 looks like the one above but more game improvement. 2 new blades with Z-muscle. I'm still going to go with the Pings. I think for my game, ballflight, etc, the i10s are a great fit. I'm going to get them fitted in a few weeks. I need a few new wedges too as I obliterate the grooves after one season. I'm going to go the new Cleveland DSG with Zip Grooves for the 60 and the CG14 for the 52. My 56 was new last year and it's only used in bunkers.
