I thought some of you may be interested in seeing these extensive and recent video interviews with all members of the Supreme Court with the exception of Justice Souter (too busy writing with his fountain pen and not watching television in his colonial home in New Hampshire, I assume). I think that the interview with Chief Justice Roberts is the best of them. See them here. Additionally, the Chief Justice spends a lot of the interview discussing his time as an appellate advocate, the methods he used to prepare for oral argument, writing briefs, etc. When I found these interviews linked to over at Volokh, some people requested any available audio recordings of Roberts arguing at the Supreme Court. I've found two such recordings, and they can be heard, and the entire transcript read, here and here. Impressive stuff.

Thomas says oral arguments are pointless exercises in ego and make zero difference to the outcome of the case.

Thomas says oral arguments are pointless exercises in ego and make zero difference to the outcome of the case. That's why he hasn't asked a question in almost three years.

That and he thinks it is egotistical and rude when the other Justices interrupt people who are trying to speak. He thinks adults should let other adults say what they came to say.
