you came from. NHL is for North American's only. We don't need your kind here ruining our sport. We like to hit, fight, and not use our sticks as extension of our arms. We like names we can pronounce. So fuck off back across the pond and let the good ol' NA boys take care of business.

Are you Canadian? Or are you channeling Don Cherry? Mark

Cherry needs to retire. Rose kept his douchebaggery in check. Since she passed Cherry has become cartoonish in his views.

East coast Canadian!! You know where Canada was started! Seriously would anyone miss anything if the Europeans left the game?

yes....I would miss Euro's if they left, cause we wouldn't technically have the majority of the best players in the world in the NHL. Your telling me you wouldn't miss Lidstrom, Datsuk, Ovechkin, Malkin, and zetterberg? Quit trolling

Watching Cherry gripe about dirty Euro players is well worth having them in the league. It also helps Canada immensely in International play, IMO.

Not trolling at all. I know lots of NHL fans that would love to see this. The NHL has too many teams and way too many Europeans....FACT!

That's what the NHL needs to help regain popularity. Let's get rid of the players that seemingly score at will at glide across the ice. Then watch NA teams become routinely beaten in world play.

"Then watch NA teams become routinely beaten in world play. "-yeah sure. Different game idiot. Different size ice surface. Get your facts straight.

I'm not saying the games are comparable. In fact, that's my point. Not having a European presence would distance us even further from their style of play, IMO. I, personally, appreciate a more defensive approach to hockey but I don't see building a large fanbase again without the more flashy style.

I think aamn's point is similar to the one I made above. Being exposed to European players during league play helps Canada's chances overall, as we have more familiarity of their playing styles, dirty tactics, etc. Of course it will be a little different on the big ice, but a lot of the playing style still maintains. What is really interesting to me is that now young top Euro prospects are even relocating to Canada to play in the OHL. It's entirely possible that ten years from now, that the European players will play more like Canada. As an aside, all this fancy goal scoring is exciting as hell but someone is going to have to start calling stick infractions soon. Ovechkin in particular has been getting away with murder in that boomerang curve of his.

"Then watch NA teams become routinely beaten in world play. " Who has won the World Jr's the last 4 times?
