Sorry, but that post just made me stop feeling bad for the guy. Having trouble with the drink I can understand. Gambling away your fight purse when you are trying to make a comeback I cannot.

he won't be bringing himself down, he will be disappointing those who have put faith in him that he can succeed. tanner is a guy who never quits, good for him, but he certainly doesn't have to be in that situation. dude is a has been who could of been much more.

loved his blog all except the gambling. for a seemingly intelligent man that was a dumbass thing to do. you clutch to any money you have when you are down on your luck not squander it away at casinos still, his outlook on life is very comendable. Hope he does well in his next fight. Cant help thinking he would do beter in another org - more money, easier opposition, UFCs talent pool is just too much for a half power tanner right now.

If he would get a manager, sponsors and do signings he could pay everything off and live in comfort. He is a man on a mission to do everything himself, but that isnt the smart way to go about it. I will always root for Evan and I hope he comes out on top next fight.

The dude is an open book. I respect that. Fuck anyone sitting behind a screen name casting stones at his shortcomings. We've ALL got our shit to carry and very few of share it or discuss it. I like the fact that even though he is failing massively on some fronts, he is able to share it so candidly. Lessons can be learned from others IMO

Some people are not afraid to show you their lives, warts and all. Tanner is one of those guys. I applaud his honesty.

I think just about everyone has had a friend like Evan Tanner at some point in their life. Very nice guy who you can't help but like, which makes it all the more frustrating when you see them constantely self destruct. You end up standing in front of them after each episode and kind of wanting to yell at them for being dumb, but you end up just kind of sighing with your hands in your head and saying 'You can't keep doing this stuff bro'.

Thinking he could go to the casino and win is just plain addict thinking. Acting out on that thinking was no different than taking a drink knowing full well you cant IMO. Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results. Next time I hope he heads to a recovery meeting instead and finds a sponsor there to help him make some healthy choices in life.

Takes alot of balls to put your life out there for anyone to see. I don't feel sorry for him but I will support him. WAR TANNER!!

I'm willing to bet that Evan could get $100/hour for privates. It adds up quick, he could put in a couple of solid weeks and bank enough to live frugally until his next fight. I wonder if he doesn't want to deal with privates though?

I am a fan, but "Great accomplishment only comes with great risk." sounds great when said or written, but in practice great accomplishments more often come from steady and consistent hard work.

There is very little that is noble about "taking a risk" with other people's money (which when you owe people and you don't have assets to cover the debts...any money you use...is other people's money.)

At the end of the day a successful life is rarely made up of a couple big scores...it is made up of a lot of little ones and for a guy owing a bunch of people money, his little scores would be appearances, teaching seminars, etc. etc. (still better than working at Walmart to make ends meet, so I don't pity him too much.)

i find his honesty fascinating. especially considering that his "team tanner" concept is basically just personal donations. you would think that some would be contributors might think twice after reading that blog.
