"I like the man"

Then feel free to give him some of your money so he can irresponsibly blow it, then include your nameless donation to his blog.

I like him too, but his story has gotten about as pathetic as you can get.  I'm ready for him to go away now.

I don't see anything commendable in there. Making bad choices repeatedly and then coming up with justifications is what it looks like to me.

He hasn't made the best choices... but I too like him and root for him.  Living with an addictive personality or multiple at that, is very challenging.

LOL @ the people passing judgement from behind a computer screen without having the balls to talk about their own personal demons and failures. Atleast this guy is open enough to talk about his.

I don't have a laundry list of epic personal failures, nor would anyone care to read about them if I did.

He lost me when he referenced that he has a Land Cruiser. Seems like an easy source of money would be to trade that bad boy in for a car with lower payments or even just sell it outright if it's paid for.

"LOL @ the people passing judgement from behind a computer screen without having the balls to talk about their own personal demons and failures. Atleast this guy is open enough to talk about his. "

I wasn't passing judgement on his demons or his failures but was commenting on his justification and near glorification of what was seemingly an irresponsible slap in the face to the people who have helped him.

Had he come on and said (as he has many times and he has generally gotten a lot of support for) "I fucked up again...I made bad choices etc." I doubt much negative would have been said.  People support people that recognize their failures.

This blog had a different tone...he sounded like an addict, not a recovering addict.  He was acting as if he took some bold path when in fact he tried to take the easy way out of a bad situation. I could very easily see a similar post coming in a few weeks where he says "I have decided that in order to truly live I need to embrace my demons and be able to get drunk at night but still function during the day..." or some other self-righteous crap to justify falling off the wagon.

I am pulling for him...but this sort of behavior is a bad sign.

Im a strong supporter of Tanner but this last blog was a little bit of a let down. Evan's brutally honest & open & we should all expect that. I also respect him doing his own thing & taking chances in life. Sometimes you have to take 1 step back to take two steps forward Evan Tanner Will Return!!! BELIEVE

I respect Tanner for his openness, talent, and return to the octagon. I've always been a fan of his, but I would have to agree that this is getting a bit ridiculous. Not "old," so much as depressing to read, rather than inspiring or even comical. It's like he won't let himself get a little ahead - just keep fluctuating between misery and breaking even.

I find glory in family, and stability.

I would find more with more money obviously, but you have to weigh the risk vs the reward, not just keep risking EVERYTHING.

That blog entry is just pathetic. Going to a casino and gambling away money you need and then trying to spin it as some sort of journey of self-discovery is some sorry shit.

"rf426 , no guts , no glory ! "

Generally when you look at entrepreneurs/people who have shown guts and gotten glory it is all about taking calculated risks which were preceeded by and followed up with a lot of hard work.  Few truly gamble and even fewer gamble without some sort of a back up plan if they lose.

Trying to win money at the tables using borrowed money to get out of debt is neither a calculated risk, nor does it involve the hardwork that generally produces success (unless you spend the time to learn the craft...)
