You know... It's funny. So many of you are posting, "I'm done feeling sorry for him", "I don't feel sorry for him", whatever. The man didn't ask for sympathy. He straight up said, I don't want it. He just shared what happened. I find strength in a person that has had these types of issues, and is not afraid to show the world.

I hope that Tanner gets back on track, and if I can help him in any way, I will! Evan, if you read this, email me... jeff @ ironshin.com

Jeff, Go to any downtown slum you will find a lot of people that you find "strength" in. They will happily tell you their whole life story for a dollar maybe less.

"The man didn't ask for sympathy. He straight up said, I don't want it. He just shared what happened. I find strength in a person that has had these types of issues, and is not afraid to show the world." I am not trying to be a dick and start an argument, but what would one's point be to tell everyone all his sad and depressing life stories (notice they are always negative and nothing ever positive?) without wanting sympathy or trying to make an example of what not to do? I can easily come on here and list every negative or crappy thing that has happened in my life, every stupid selfish decision I have made, and follow that up by saying I want no sympathy or it is alright because I got a spiritual journey out of it, but why? What is the point? I would rather be level headed, financially secure and comfortable, and happy.

"He's going to keep jumping from addiction to addiction and destructive behavior to destructive behavior without some kind of therapy or rehab or 12 step program." Agreed. But according to idiots here on the UG he has balls, more so then us level headed pussies who chose not to make bad decisions and become open about them.

I do feel sorry for Evan because he's obviously got a VERY VERY addictive personality. I've known talented people like this and whatever thing they do they get addicted to and it ends up ruining their lives whether it be alcohol, smoking, gambling, pills, or all of the above. I'm a huge evan tanner fan, I just wish he'd realize he needs major psychological help.

Wow, lots of mixed feelings reading that. I'm hoping for the best for him and really scratching my head at what is it going to take?

His entire blog just reads like one big cry for help. He needs to get back into rehab before he digs himself into a deeper hole.

Being honest and authentic is only one part of healthy living. It's good to acknowledge your faults and your motives; it's also wise do something about shoring them up. Giving someone feedback about your reactions and your experience of them and their decisions is not being judgemental or uncaring; it can actually be one of the most loving things you can do. Honesty works both ways. You can care for someone, accept them as a person and still be disappointed at their behavior.

lol I love Tanner. The guy is 100% passion. Good or bad. Better than rotting away in some ordered, stagnant and typical life.

" YOU try putting everything you have into training/fighting only to come up short. Think about it. The man has lost all of his title shots in devastating fashion, goes into some alcoholic trance for a couple of years (or whatever), and after finally getting his head and body back into the game he is crushed by another crippling blow to his career (Okami)." he was an alcoholic during his fighting career. therefore he didnt' put everything he had into training/fighting, and didn't start drinking out of disappointment.

Honestly, who wouldn't love to have left the legacy of someone like Dostoevski, the greatest realist writer of all time, who died penniless because of gambling. Great people often have great problems and all of us are dead in the end. I'm sure that Tanner is doing just fine despite what a lot of people think are such monstrous problems. He's probably a hell of a lot happier than your typical safe adult drone. I'd take that guy's life in a second, even with its problems.
