Do you prefer to date men your own age, older or younger?

What range is your maximum that you would go for in either direction?

I don't care. I've dated someone 10 years older than me and someone 5 years younger. If I could get a hold of a rich 60 year old and/or an 18 year old, I would be happy.

LOL @ The Doc.  You realize this isn't the homo ground? Run along!

Reason I brought this thread up is that I'm in my 30s and it seems easier now to find women who are in their young 20's that want to date older guys.

Yet, when I was in my 20s, I always thought it was creepy that girls my age would date older men.

Brenda,

I agree with you there, money has its advantages. Also, I think alot of its the level of maturity and security that comes with being more established in life that is probably attractive.

I don't discriminate based on age.  My current bf is 2 1/2 years younger.

Hypothetically (since I don't know your age), would that still apply if you were say 35? Or at that stage would men at that age be okay or would you still generally date older?

An older guy is established and comfortable with himself. Experience gives a guy the ability to handle life a lot better and a girl appreciates a guy who can handle life.

hypothetically, Livewire, yes, a guy my own age or even a little younger might work. heck, even now a guy my own age would be fine if we were on the same wavelength. but since i've been mentally middle-aged (other than my juvenile sense of humor) since i was 23 or so, it's rare to find the same in a guy near my age. younger right now generally just doesn't work. many guys in their early/mid 20s just need a big kick in the pants (not that i'm trying to be sexist - many girls in their early/mid 20s need a kick in the pants too, but they're not my target gender, nawmsayin?).

So how much older would you date? A guy in his late 40s early 50s or is that too old?

When I was younger, I always dated guys 3-7 years older than me. The older I get, the more I date guys close to my own age. However, I still don't date men younger than me and I still prefer older men. If you are eligible for a senior citizen's discount, you're out, but otherwise everything's good. :)

This is BS. When I was 18 I had a 30 year old g/f who happend to be my boss at the place I worked, she told me that before me she would never date a young guy but I showed her how younger guys are more affectionate and more patient about putting up with BS, although I do admit the older you get the more established you probably are. (Btw i lied when i first met her and said I was 21)

Younger people in general will put up with more BS. They have more time to waste.

Younger guys are more patient about putting up with Bull Shit? I don't know about that. I'm guessing I might qualify as "younger" here (24), and for years prior I've had little patience for that. However, I am kind of a misanthrope with comittment issues, so that may have something to do with it. :) Also, my firm conviction is that a man shouldn't take shit from a woman anyway. Somehow this country has become full of a lot of spineless and emasculated men who let their women walk all over them. Anyway I can only speak for myself. Maybe younger guys are more patient in general.
